In April of 1977, the Strnot family had a small miniature Dachshund die. She was a well loved member of the family, small but an attentive guardian of the family. Mrs. Strnot looked for suitable final care of the remains of this little dog. The ground was frozen, of the two pet cemeteries in town, one was closed and the other was full. When she asked about a private cremation that was considered rediculous. Mrs. Strnot decided that there must be other people out there that consider their pets a member of the family. They too would not want their pet to have its final resting place be the local dump or the land fill. Rolling Acres Complex was established and dedicated in 1978. Mrs. Strnot worked very hard to get a Special Use permit and have Rolling Acres zoned permanently as a pet cemetery. The cemetery can only be a cemetery, it can never be turned into a stripe mall or apartment complex. It will always be a cemetery for our pets & their cremated owners. |
